After their first match-up ended in a hotly contested draw at Gladiator MMA 2 in September, amateurs Michael Cyr (Ultimaction) and Jordan Turcotte (Sherboxe) met for a second time Saturday night in Ultimaction 3’s main event.
This time it didn’t take long for the fight to end, with hometown favourite Cyr earning a first round rear-naked choke win.
Taking place in Drummondville, about an hour-and-a-half east of Montreal, the amateur event featured nine bouts in all, fought under amateur rules. On top of being in a ring, the three rounds are two minutes each. Fighters wear 12 ounce gloves and shin pads. Elbow and knee strikes, hammer-fists, and submissions involving twisting (e.g. heel hooks), are all prohibited.
I wasn’t able to make it out, but the results were graciously sent in by Jesse Bell of the People’s Champs blog.
