Ringside‘s welterweight champion Chris Clements was forced out of the organization’s tenth event earlier this week due to an injury, reportedly to his ankle.
His original opponent, Alex Garcia, will now face off against Seth Baczynski for an interim welterweight title. Garcia sports a perfect 6-0 record, with five of wins coming in the 1st round. The fight will be his fifth with the Ringside organization.
Baczynski (12-6), best known for his stint on Season 11 of the Ultimate Fighter, is coming off a controversial victory at Tachi Palace Fights 7. After he seemingly tapped out to an arm-bar, Baczynski escaped and KOed his opponent Tim McKenzie.
An under-card fight featuring Guillaume Vigneau has also been added to Ringside 10. The 1-0 fighter, cousin to the Vigneault brothers (Steve, Stephane), was recently expected to take part in the MFL 4 card, but was pulled out prior to the event’s cancellation when an opponent couldn’t be found.
He’ll return to Ringside in a light-heavyweight bout against Lyfield Chambers, an Ontario fighter making his professional debut.
The April 9th card marks Ringside’s first show at the Bell Centre, and will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Patrick Côté and Kalib Starnes. Steve Bossé and Michel Gagnon will also defend their light heavyweight, and featherweight belts.
