A fifth winning fighter from Rising Star 1 has been added to the promotion’s second outing. After pulling off a hard fought decision victory against Jean-Francois Royer last January, Yohan Gariépy (2-2) has been tapped for Rising Star 2‘s new main event.
Gariépy will join returning Team Legion teammates Tommy Côté and Maxime Dubois for the card. Another team member, Keven Pellerin, will be making his professional debut.
Gariépy will go up against Ontario’s Steve Simms (1-0), who will be fighting professionally for the first time in over two years. He pulled off a 1st round rear-naked choke in his first professional fight in January 2009.
The previous main event fighters, Luc Nadeau (2-0) and Christopher Boisvert (2-2), both withdrew from their fight due to scheduling conflicts, not injuries, according to matchmaker Joey Benoit.
